Call Out for Tariro | Journey of Hope
Aussie Books for Zim is looking for original artworks responding to the theme of Hope for an exhibition titled Tariro | Journey of Hope in late September 2019.
About Aussie Books for Zim
Aussie Books for Zim is a charity based in Illawarra, New South Wales. It empowers children from rural communities in Zimbabwe through education by building libraries and literacy programs using books rescued from Australian landfill.
About the Exhibition Tariro | Journey of Hope
Tariro | Journey of Hope is a mixed-media, group exhibition. It celebrates the transformative power of education through a series of uplifting stories.
The exhibition will consist of 2 components:
- Stunning photographic images from rural communities with whom Aussie Books for Zim has been working with over the years
- Invited submissions that are inspired by the theme of Tariro (Hope) brought by education from professional/practising artists and the broader community.
The exhibition will take place at Big Fat Smile Gallery (98 Railway St, Corrimal, NSW 2518) from 28 September to 12 October 2019 with an opening scheduled on Saturday 28 September.
Expression of Interest
This call out is open to all ages and abilities. The exhibition will feature a mixture of artworks from both professional/practising artists and community art enthusiasts.
Artists are encouraged to submit artworks that explore connections between the transformative power of education and hope. This may include, but not limited to, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, illustration, sound, film and live performances. We will consider all forms of artwork within gallery restrictions.
- Deadline: Expression of Interest by midnight 31 August 2019 (artwork DOES NOT have to be finished by this date).
